2007 Sportsman Champion |
Mike was born and
raised in South Bend, IN. As a child he raced Go-Carts and won everything he
could win. When it was time to move up in cars and classes he chose to go to
work in his father’s business instead. He made the choice later in life to
return to what he loved and what makes him happy, racing. When Mike returned to the sport he did not jump right back into the seat and start winning races in a Pro Stock car. He had to build up his time in the seat of a car and get the feel for the tracks and the cars again. He started in The Mini Stock division at South Bend Speedway and finished in the top ten in points in 2005. In 2006 he finished in the top ten at M-40 Speedway racing a Pro Stock. He has faced his fair share of hardships along the way as any true race driver has and he faced them head on. He had made the decision to race two full schedules in 2007 which means having two cars ready to race every week. He managed to finish the season with his first Championship in the Sportsman division at Plymouth and finished 9th in points at M-40. This year he will defend his Championship at Plymouth Speedway in the Sportsman Division as well as race in the Late Model division. He also plans on racing a partial season with the CRA Sportsman Series. This proves to be a very busy year!
